Flight and ukulele artist Peter Moss have teamed up to produce a concert electro ukulele. This uke, Peter’s signature model, has a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. That’s a good combination which I like, but it’s perhaps not the most striking of pairings to look at - but with this one, that’s definitely taken care of in the form of the black/grey sunburst on the front, and the nicely applied black stain on the back and sides. In both cases, they allow you to still see the wood grain underneath, while giving a striking look.

Peter Moss has been prominent on the ukulele scene in the past decade or so, having previously been something of a ukulele phenomenon as a younger man too. He obviously knows a thing or two about ukes as well, and this signature model will serve him, and others who buy one, very well. He certainly does more up to date songs too, but he’s known for his classic repertoire of ukulele staples, so this modern looking instrument isn’t what I expected for the look - but hey, it looks lovely, with it’s cool slotted headstock and scooped cutaway.

Peter had been playing an all solid acacia Flight Spirit model, on which this one is based in terms of dimensions, but… despite costing less, I think it is a definite (in fact, a serious) improvement on that. With the spruce top packing a punch, and the Worth Brown strings and mahogany body rounding things off a little, it chimes well with out ever being over-bright.

It also has a Double C1U active pickup, with soundhole controls tucked inside the soundhole, allowing you to plug into an amp, and comes with a good quality gig bag. At the 12th fret, you get the word ‘MOSS’ rather than a position marker, just so you know it’s the Flight Peter Moss Signature concert electro ukulele.
