I could wax lyrical about this all solid koa Kiwaya KTT-2KS (and I will in a bit), but first a couple of comments on it from the Ukulele Underground forum.

Ok... so I made the last one up. But, for something that is quite rare, there's plenty of love out there for it. One commenter did say that there are prettier ukuleles out there for the price and that, I suppose, is true - although the satin finish is traditional and lovely, and the solid Hawaiian koa body has a very nice grain. What marks it apart for me is the tone and playability. It is so silky to play, just wonderful. It has a 36mm nut but a nice, shallow neck profile that just fits my hand perfectly. I find a flat profile and 36mm nut is just right for me - I have large hands but find 38mm a little odd, so this is perfect for my style.

Tone-wise, the KTT-2TS doesn't disappoint - far from it. It has delicate highs which keep their volume and sustain right the way up the neck. And the bass response is tremendous - it's so rich and smooth that it's like it is plugged in and the bass is dialled up on the amp. Lovely. The two combine when strummed into a perfect balance.

The KTT-2KS is the slotted headstock version, which is a nice touch. There's a super-smooth ebont fingerboard, bone nut and compensated saddle, and black Fremont strings. The latter really shimmer with interesting harmonics.

This Japanese-made tenor is at the pinnacle of the ukulele tree, a Hawaiian koa tree at that. Superb.
