The Lanikai QM-PUCET is a really fine looking instrument, a quilted maple body with impressive patterning, given a gloss finish and a purple stain. It is so striking to look at, coupled with the abalone soundhole rosette, black binding, a slotted headstock and a cutaway body shape.

The QM-PUCET is not only a stunning thing to look at, it has lots of other features, not least the Fishman Kula preamp and undersaddle pickup, an excellent example of this type of pickup - with a good representation of the ukulele's acoustic tone, together with tone and volume controls and a built in tuner. I've heard these used by ukulele artists to brilliant effect. In short they're up the job.

The fingerboard, which is rosewood, is a generous 37.4mm, which is nice and wide for those who struggle with fitting their fingers together in more difficult chord shapes. There are good quality chrome tuners fitted and D'addario Nyltech strings.

Strummed it has a nice mellow tone, which is common to laminate ukes like this, but with a pleasant fullness and a bit of sparkle too. If picked, a string change to fluorocarbon would be a good idea, giving a little more clarity on the highs to bring out its full potential.

This ukulele is supplied with a fitted pod-type hard case, keeping it safe and protected.
