This VTAB SP-C15 sits nicely in its price bracket, as it has lots going for it compared to many similarly priced concert ukuleles. It has a great level of finish and decoration, plays well and has a nice rich tone that also stands up to its rivals.
The spalted laminate maple looks good on the body, under a well executed gloss finish, with maple binding and black and white purfling fitting in well with the look too. The binding extends up the side of the neck to a nice looking slotted headstock which is capped with attractive acacia.
It feels good to play, with a familiar feeling 36mm nut. There's a compensated saddle and a pin bridge, and effective geared tuners. The strings are Aquila, which err on the bright side, but here there's quite a mellow, smoothness to the tone, with those strings providing a bit of punch in the trebles (sounds painful!)
