Millar’s SW-600 has a high quality, tightly grained sitka sprice top. That solid top is paired with solid black walnut back and sides. These are separated by walnut purfling and maple binding, then finished in a tactile satin. There’s a subtle-but-classy soundhole decoration and as ever, the Millar logo inlaid into a rosewood headstock veneer looks very stylish. I mean, nobody buys a uke for a logo, but they all have them so it may as well be a cool one!

Strung DGBE with D’addario Titanium strings, there’s a deep, rolling baritone depth, that never becomes muddy as the solid spruce allows the trebles to breath and come to the fore too. It’s rich, yet somehow sounds light and playful, with plenty of volume to spare when you dig in for some big chords.

The bridge and fingerboard are made from rosewood and there’s plenty of room with the Millar SW-600 possessing a 38mm bone nut. If feels balanced and pleasant to play. It’s not inexpensive but it comes into its own when playing further up the neck, where there’s a real shining harmonic richness and clarity in the upper reaches. It’s a class act.
