This is the Enya EUC-MG6 concert ukulele, an all solid mango uke with a gloss finish, striking looks and a fantastic gig bag. I mean, it doesn’t make sense to shop for a uke because it has a lovely bag… the sound is more important, but it is a particularly good one!

Enya have really pushed the boat out with the design of this one, with the EUC-MG6 really standing out with the heavily patterend, high grade mango wood used. That looks particularly impressive under the gloss. Not ones to do things by halves, there’s also some attractive black and red binding, an abalone soundhole rosette and fingerboard inlays. Add to that the cutaway body shape and the modern headstock with inline tuners (in gold, with coral buttons), well… if there’s something you can put into a ukuelle design, they’ve done it!

The mango tones are clear and sweet, with this particular uke having a suprisingly natural, woody, earthy tone too. For all of the modern aesthetic, it sounds pleasingly relaxed and well balanced. And with a 36mm nut width, it’s a ‘normal’ playing experience too. That doesn’t sound like a particular complement - but I just mean that it feels unchallenging to play.
