Millar TK-240W Solid Cypress & Rosewood Concert Ukulele
The TK-240W concert ukulele from Millar is a really refined, mature instrument with a gorgeous, smooth tone. The sound is a great mixture of everything - with some nice brightness from the cedar and a pleasing bass response from the rosewood. It has plenty of volume when you need it, and yet can be beautifully smooth and melodic too. This makes it particularly good for chord melody, as the chords chime nicely with attractive harmonics, and then when picked, the melody is crisp and punchy.
The solid reclaimed Taiwanese Cypress top is highlighted by rope binding and soundhole rosette. The solid rosewood back and sides has some nice grain in it, and appears on the headstock cap too (as does that rope binding again). Overall, it has a really handsome, harmonious look.
The TK-240W concert ukulele has Worth clear strings fitted, a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle and good quality Korean open geared tuners, finished in gold with black buttons.
This Millar ukulele also really nice to play - with nothing challenging about it. In fact, the neck is slightly flattened beneath the 1st fret, giving a really comfortable anchoring position on the neck when you're playing chords at the botton end. The 35mm nut feels fine for me, given that's what I normally play on my tenor, too.
