Romero Creations STC Solid Mango Concert Ukulele
This is an STC from Romero Creations, a concert scale ukulele with some scaled down features that mean it’s shorter in length than a regular concert - making it compact. The small headstock and flat-bottom body shape make it come in at 55cm overall. I just grabbed the nearest soprano to me (a Kiwaya) and that was 53cm in length, so it’s more similar to that than a traditional concert uke.
The body shape and wide base allow it to deliver plenty of volume, and a sweet, laid back tone which is full and warm, especially with the low G, which is fitted as standard. The LaBella strings are lovely and smooth and ring nicely with good sustain and a nice little sparkle.
The STC from Romero has a gloss finish and a bit of abalone decoration around the heastock, but really the beautiful solid mango body takes the headlines in the visual stakes. It has an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and the headstock is faced with ebony too - on which the logo is picked out in mother of pearl (that logo is the luthier who designed this model’s signature, Daniel Ho).
This uke comes with a well padded Romero branded gig bag, and is fitted with a low G. You can find other options for easy ‘add-ons’ at the bottom of the page, including a uke strap, or strap button fittings.
