DISCONTINUED Kala KA-ATP-CTG-CE Solid Cedar Top Cutaway Electro Tenor Ukulele
This is part of Kala’s cedar top range that has (mystifyingly) been discontinued.
Kala's solid cedar top series have very long names, to add to a long list of positive attributes. It is no surprise that they've extended this range now to include a tenor electro with a cutaway, the Kala KA-ATP-CTG-CE (I told you they had long names!)
The solid cedar top is paired with very pretty laminate acacia back and sides, with deep red padauk binding and sounhole rosette which looks very smart. With an acacia faced slotted headstock too, there's a lot to admire, even without picking it up.
When you do play it though, you'll find Kala's familiar 35mm nut and playability, with a strong, but balanced tone, which is nice and even across the strings. There's some brightness and some richness - just a nice a balance, with good volume, decent sustain and nice clarity too - an all rounder.
Plugged in through the Kala pickup and preamp and you get a good representation of the acoustic tone, with the ability to vary it with the tone and volume controls, and make adjustments with the handy built in tuner.
Kala really got it right with this series of instruments, they're well made, with a good specification and good value too. The KA-ATP-CTG-CE is a welcome addition to the range.
