This solid cedar top 8-string, the Kala KA-ATP8-CTG is an expansion to the company's deservedly popular series that feature lovely looking acacia laminate back and sides, paduak binding and a gloss finish.

Yes, the sound is bright and well projected, but perhaps what strikes you first is how attractive and well finished it is. It looks like a uke that's more expensive, it is so well appointed.

Sometimes I ramble on forever about ukuleles but there's not too much to say about this one. It plays well, looks fab and sounds bubbly and bright, with the 8-strings giving great volume and a real zing. It's just a damn good uke.

However, as you might want to know the details... I'll carry on. There's a walnut fingerboard (now stained dark - a big improvement on early ATP/ACP models), a nubone nut and saddle, good quality tuners, an attractive padauk soundhole decoration and a very, very, very nice slotted headstock. This is faced with acacia, with maple, ebony and padauk layers underneath, which are revealed in turn in the sculpted recesses of the headstock slots. The nut width is 38mm to accommodate all those strings (octave G's and C's and paired E's and A's). Oh, and it's a bit good, did I mention that?
