This is a handmade, top-quality tenor ukulele from Canadian luthier Martin van Humbeck, crafted in his workshop on Vancouver Island. It is made from master grade Englemann spruce, paired with Indian rosewood, selected for its colour and impressive grain.

Martin has made this tenor with a slightly wider than average nut, at 36.5mm, with a low G fitted (Fremont) alongside Worth Clears. It plays beautifully and has a rich tone, with sparklingly clear trebles that match harmoniously with the depth of that low G. It has lots of controlled volume, with pretty harmonics that sing on long after you've strummed.

This Martin Beck tenor is supplied with a quality, tweed finish hard case and top drawer Gotoh 510 super mini geared tuners, which are super-reliable and as smooth as you like to use. The build is light and it feels so comfortable in your hands, a superb instrument that warrants these top-end tuners for sure!

The headstock is faced with incredibly pretty figured Pacific yew, into which there's a mother of pearl 'Beck' logo (done with great care, and probably a better choice than going for the full 'Martin van Humbeck' across the headstock!) The fingerboard and bridge are attractively streaked Indian rosewood, with tamarind wood bridge pins fitted.

The binding is flamed rock maple, and there more yew for the tail graft, as well as a lovely asymmetrical soundhole decoration, continuing the yew theme and combined with some radiant abalone. The body is finished with a tru-oil finish.

This is a premium instrument, at a premium price, yes - but when you factor in the skill and experience that has gone into it, together with the countless hours of work, you can understand why it has to go for this price. These Martin Beck instruments have never been around long, they're that good.
