Pete Howlett Hawaiian Style All Solid Cherry Electro Tenor Ukulele
This was a one-off instrument that has now sold.
This is an all solid tenor ukulele, handmade in Wales by Pete Howlett. It features a fairly slender, 3/4 depth body and all solid cherry for the body. There’s also a ‘soft edge’, a gentle bevel - not as overt as a ‘comfort edge’ you may have seen elsewhere, but still… an edge that’s very comfortable!
This Howlett tenor, made in a Hawaiian style, features geared tuners (top quality, by Der Jung), Worth Brown strings and, a lovely feature, a satin black neck.
It’s rich, vibrant and… ‘alive’. Perhaps a strange way to describe the sound but there’s so much going on when you play it, brightness, richness, lovely overtones and harmonics… that seemed as good a way as any to describe it!
The ukulele is fitted with a good quality passive pickup too, so you can amplify if required - though it has plenty of acoustic volume, regardless of its slimmer body depth.
