There are two things to say quickly about the US10 Livng Coral colour series soprano uke. Firstly, the colour is difficult to photograph and it is very changeable in different lights. With light shining on it, it is almost luminous - so if you open the box on a sunny day, prepare to be dazzled! Secondly, whatever the looks, the US10 soprano is a really nice instrument underneath all the style and bright colours. It’s certainly non-traditional, but when you consider it has an excellent gig bag and a solid spruce top, it’d be a really good price if it just looked plain -so you’re not overpaying because it looks a bit flash!

The aNueNue US10 has plenty of volume, with nice sustain and plenty of clarity - as you’d expect from a solid spruce top. But it isn’t thin-sounding, with some nice soprano style ‘bark’ coming into play when you first strike the strings.

The strings fitted are aNueNue clear water fluorocarbon - which are very nice strings I often recommend anyway. There are geared tuners, a textured scratch guard and maple fingerboard and bridge. The nut width is a standard 35mm and despite looking outlandish, in your hands it feels familiar and, well… normal!

Years ago a colourful uke meant you’d get the looks not the sound to match. But in this case, you can have your cake and eat it.
