Phil Doleman’s signature ukulele, the Millar PD-210MN, has been really well received and an excellent, popular choice for a soprano uke that doesn’t break the bank, but really reaches into the sound quality of higher end ukes.

This is a limited edition model, made with a solid sapele top back, rather than mahogany as per the standard model. The sound is similarly rich and warm, with some soprano sparkle, but perhaps a touch more laid back and more rounded in tone than the mahogany edition. How did it come about? Millar had some nice sets of sapele with some birds eye patterning, and got in touch to ask if I’d like them to make me something with it. And so I said yes. They only had enough sets for four ukes, so that’s how these came about.

Spec-wise, they’re the same as the regular PD-210MN (which you can read about by clicking here). So that’s Der Jung rear facing geared tuners, Worth Browns and a 35mm nut width.

There’s just four of these so they really are a genuine limited edition.
