Millar CD-210LL All Solid Cedar & Acacia Long Neck Soprano Ukulele

£369.00

The Millar CD-210LL is a long neck soprano ukulele - so a soprano body with a concert length neck. You might also call it a small bodied concert uke. The main thing is, it’s lovely, whatever you call it! And it gives a soprano-like sound, with a very nice ‘bark’, which smacks of a vintage uke - while having a longer fingerboard for those who struggle with sopranos. And while I mention a vintage bark, that’s just part of the package, as there’s a fantastic chime, excellent volume, nice sustain and lovely clarity too. It’s a multi-faceted ukulele, with loads going for it.

Made from solid, tight-grained cedar on the top, coupled with attractive solid acacia back and sides, the Millar CD-210LL has a distinctive, harmonious look on account of the ebony, maple and mahogany rope binding. The faceplate is capped with acacia too, and with the biscuit brown top, it blends in nicely. The intricate binding isn’t to everyone’s taste, but if you like it, well… it’s done well.

Worth Browns are fitted to this ukulele, which has a rosewood fingerboard and bridge and a 35mm nut width. And the tuners are excellent too. Rear-facing geared tuners from Gotoh, which are lighweight, very effective and yet give an authentic look to this soprano (well, long neck soprano) ukulele.

A question might be, given there are other ukes in this series, what are the differences. Well, to my ear, the CD-210LL has a bigger, deeper bass. The spruce top SP-210LL has more brightness and even more volume. And the cypress top TK-210LL is sweeter, and more evenly balanced across the strings (as opposed to the balance being achieved by very strong bass and trebles at the same time). The differences are subtle, and it’s important to note they’re all excellent. They’re all loud. They all pack a punch and the sound really bursts out of them. But, you might be thinking what’s the difference and therefore I’ve given an answer!
