This all solid mahogany Millar TM-210MN is a nicely made, satin-finish instrument, with a vintage lilt to the sound. It is fitted with D’addario black nylon strings, which give you a nice, traditional soprano bark, and a little sparkle to the highs, while allowing the mahogany richness to come through. It sounds a bit like a more expensive Kiwaya, which in turn sound a bit like vintage Martins… so you’re looking at a more traditional sound that a dynamic modern tone. (However, I have tried these with Worth Browns too and that gives them more pep - but doesn’t match that vintage oeuvre as well).

It has good quality geared tuners from Der Jung and some nice inlays and binding, for a bit more visual flair. It’s comfortable to play - with a nice low action (technically I’d sort that out for you if it wasn’t that way from the factory, but that’s how they make them in the small Taiwanese workshop where they’re built). This Millar uke has a 35mm nut width, with flattened profile on the neck underneath the lower frets (where most people play most of the time), which acts as a nice anchor point for your thumb.

If you’re after something with a vintage tone, but don’t want to shell out for a Japanese-made Kiwaya, this is a tidy, nice-sounding and well made option for a lot less. It has quite a slim body, which keeps the weight down but doesn’t seem to affect the volume, surprisingly.
