ONE-OFF Flight Aurora Solid Top Electro Acoustic Baritone Ukulele
This is a brand new instrument. It’s a one-off as the strings have been changed from the stock D’addario black nylon to aNueNue Blue Moon Fluorocarbon (DGBE, with a flatwound low D and unwound G, B and E).
I had an Aurora set up and ready for a recent customer appointment, and then during that appointment, the E string went off - with the intonation going out completely. The D’addario strings are very stretchy, and this can happen when there’s so much stretch that the windings wrap all the way around the post too many times. I didn’t want to put a new string on as it’ll have never had been up to pitch and the customer would have had to wait all day to try it - so I whipped the E string off this one, put it on the customer’s demo model, and it was fine! Then, I had this one left over with just three strings, so have re-strung it with a whole new set of aNueNue strings (which don’t suffer the same issues).
If you click additional info below you’ll find a video demo of the Aurora with this string type.
If you click here, you can find all the info on this model on the page on my website for a new, standard one.
And why is it cheaper when I have spent money on improving it? It’s non standard so there’s a risk that if it’s in my storeroom, I could end up having it left when there’s an order for a standard one. Having read this description so far, you’ll understand that that would be quite a complicated and boring thing to expain to a customer - so I’m moving it on quickly so I have no stock confusion!
