aNueNue UT10 LC Solid Top Living Coral Tenor Ukulele
Now aNueNue’s colour series has been expanded to include a tenor ukulele model, in this case the UT-10 LC, which as a peachy, pinky colour called ‘Living Coral’. Before going any further, I have to say that the colour of this one is very hard to photograph as it looks different in different lights. While processing my photos, I looked up and the sunlight was catching the ukulele on the wall, and it was almost neon pink. Then, tilt it and it’s more of a salmon colour. Every shade in every light is nice, but prepare to stand out from the crowd is all I’m saying!
The main thing to say about the uke itself is that just because it looks unusual, it isn’t a gimmick. Strip away the satin, coloured finish and underneath there’s a well made, great quality uke with a great sound for this level of budget. It has a solid top, a great gig bag, quality fluorocarbon strings (aNueNue Clear Water) and decent, geared pegs. The UT-10 ukulele certainly looks different, but just because it’s eyecatching, it doesn’t mean your eyes are the only thing to get a treat if you buy one.
The tone is initially quite forward, giving a burst of clear, well-projected sound, which ebbs away with a nice, mid-range level of warmth (by which I mean it’s not really warm, like mahogany, but not lacking in ‘body’ either). It plays nicely too (particularly so after I lower the action, which I think these models need - something I’ll do automatically… well, not automatically, I’ll do it by hand, but you know what I mean!).
The aNueNue colour series looks ‘out there’, but the quality is apparent, and at this sort of price range, there’s a strong case for adding one to your collection. Unless you like a traditional looking ukulele, which this clearly is not!
Just one minor, boring point. Inside this uke it says UT-10. So I am going with that, although all my paperwork lists this as an aNueNue UCT-10.
