The UT-100 is part of aNueNue's bird series that includes their famous Moon Bird. This tenor uke uses solid sitka spruce on the top and solid African mahogany for the back and sides, making it less expensive than their highest end models. It is provided with an excellent gig bag, with loads of padding too.

When I first saw the specification I assumed it was an attempt to get some of the Moon Bird DNA but at a less expensive price point - and that's true to a point... but it definitely is a 'thing' in its own right, with a distinctly different tone to what has come before. It's quite difficult to describe what it is! There's a piano-like tone, more of a vintage sound, with a lovely mellowness. It has a softness that really does remind me of the hammers of a piano, while retaining the depth that the Moon Bird is known for. It's impressive, after all this time, that manufacturers can still come out with something genuinely 'new' and different.

The mahogany used on the back and sides is very attractive, with a golden stain, with more mahogany used for the binding, and a ring of abalone placed around the soundhole. The fingerboard is very slightly radiussed and it's a comfortable 36mm at the nut.

This gloss finish tenor ukulele has aNueNue's geared tuners (which I suspect are made by Grover - they're certainly as good as), and their Clear Water strings are fitted - good quality fluorocarbon strings that I am a big fan of.
