The Big Island MO-TR is stunning, solid mango, with a gorgeous, balanced tone. It is punchy and projecting when you need it, subtle and warm-edged when you tone things down a notch and play softly. Sometimes you get a plain looking ukulele that sounds great, or an extrovert, blingy instrument that lets you down with the tone - but this Big Island gives you the best of both worlds.

The MO-TR has a extremely striking all solid mango for the body, which radiates under a gloss finish. In the main, the wood is allowed to do the talking, but there some mahogany binding and a nice complimentary soundhole rosette. On the unusually shaped headstock there's the Big Island turtle logo, inlaid in abalone.

The ukulele is fitted with Aquila strings and has sealed, geared tuning machines, which as well as being smooth, have lovely mango wood buttons. The bridge and fingerboard are rosewood and it has a bone nut and compensated saddle. The neck is 35mm, but with a relatively shallow neck profile, it feels perfectly comfortable To keep the MO-TR ukulele safe, there's a really nice quality black hard case included.

For all this good specification and exotic looks, the star of the show is firmly the sound. It is so resonant and the sustain is really impressive. Such a pretty sound from a very pretty uke.
