The Kala KA-KTGE-C is made in Indonesia, as opposed to most of Kala's catalogue, which is made in China. While those used to Kala will be familiar with the body shape and dimensions, there's definitely a different character to this electro tenor, which has mellow nature, with a touch of sparkle to the tone from the D'addario Titanium strings.

With a pre-amp and pickup added, with tone and volume controls and built-in tuner, it is ready to go for gigging or recording. And, with Grover tunersm a jack socket that doubles as a strap buttion and nubone saddle and 35mm nut, it has lots going for it in terms of specification.

With a slotted headstock and maple binding, together with a simple soundhole decoration, the KA-KTGE-C looks very handsome, and that's without factoring in the gorgeous koa body, which shimmers under the gloss finish. Of course, at this price, it's not a solid koa model, but it certainly demonstrates that good quality, well made laminate models can sound great.
