Millar TA-260G All Solid Acacia Tenor Ukulele
This Millar TA-260G is a really beautiful, all solid tenor ukulele, made in a small workshop in Tawain. With beautiful patterned solid acacia used for the body, under a mirror gloss finish, it looks and sounds like the Hawaiian models it is a tribute to - with an even tone and unfussy appearance that lets the wood do the talking.
The acacia used is superb, with an almost 3D effect to the grain, which shimmers and shines in the light. The fingerboard and bridge are rosewood, and the headstock is capped with acacia too, and sports robust, smooth-turning enclosed geared tuners. The saddle and 35mm nut are made of buffalo bone and D’addario EJ87T strings are fitted.
The tone is really impressive, with a real mellow edge and gorgeous harmonics that deliver and almost shimmering, pulsing tone - definitely mature and subtly different. The TA-250G from Millar is very responsive too, with a decent bit of volume (not always apparent with acacia) and yet, dialling it back produces really delicate, sparkling tones.
If you’re looking for an attractive uke with attractive tones - akin to a marriage between ukulele and harp - this Millar ukulele could well be for you.
