Romero Creations All Solid Mahogany Grand Tenor Ukulele
The Romero Creations mahogany grand tenor ukulele is a very nice instrument, but what actually is it? It’s a tenor ukulele with an oversized body, bigger than most bodies and quite deep too. So it’s just that little bit of extra size, which produces a bit of extra depth of smooth, creamy tones.
The LaBella strings fitted to the Romero Grand Tenor give it natural extra punch in the bass zone, while the all solid mahogany body adds more richness too. So it really is a warm, mellow sounding instrument. This lends itself to jazzy tunes and relaxed strumming, accentuating all of that richness and smooth, mellow nature.
There’s an excellent gig bag provided with the Grand Tenor - handy as its extra body depth might feel tight on generic bags. The neck has a pleasing, relatively flat and thin profile, which is paired with a wider, 38mm nut. I don’t generally play wider nut ukes myself for pleasure, but matched with that not-overly-chunky neck, I can certainly feel the advantages.
I am often asked ‘what’s the warmest / most mellow sounding uke’ by customers. I think I may have the answer.
