The Snail SEU-1T is a solid body electro tenor ukulele, with that body made from okoume, with an acacia top. It features an active pickup, with tone and volume controls, making it an ideal instrument for using on stage. The solid body means it won’t suffer from feedback like an electro-acoustic model - so particularly if you have a penchant for playing using distortion effects for some rocky playing, this is a handy bit of kit.

While the SEU-1T’s primary function is to be used with an amplifier, it’s tenor neck is just like a regular Snail tenor uke, and it gives out enough volume for quiet practice. Without an amp, that’s fine for when you want to keep playing and not disturb anyone, but it is naturally quiet, until you use an amp, of course!

Snail ukuleles, with their 35mm nut width are unchallenging to play, very much average dimensions that suit most players - and this one is no different. The solid body is heavier than a regular uke though, so the fact you can use the jack input as a strap button is handy. Geared tuners are fitted, and the SEU-1T ukulele has D’addario clear nylon strings which do the job well and feel nice and smooth.

When amplified, the pickup, which is powered by a PP3 battery accessed through the rear panel, is perfectly good. Not outstanding like a Mi-Si pickup, but a fraction of the cost. It’s great for rocking away and making a big noise - though the tone control , if set at zero, makes the tone a little muddy. That’s not really a problem - you don’t go that far! With it between half way and full it’s much better!

Snail’s SEU-1T tenor uke comes with a custom made padded bag, which is handy on account of it’s body being thinner than a regular tenor.
