The aNueNue US10 is a solid spruce top soprano ukulele with laminate maple back and sides. The satin finish is applied to the top alongside some colourful finishes named after pantone colours - in this case, an off-white called Almond Milk. This is not a traditional looking soprano uke by any stretch, but unlike so many colourful or unique looking ukes, the US10 isn’t a novelty, even though it’s appearance is novel. Take away the looks and it’s a really nice sounding, well made uke. It is a ukulele that’s been designed the right way around - starting with a nice uke and making it look good, rather than using the appearance to ‘sell’ something that’s a bit average. In short, if this ukulele was this price, sounded this good, had such a nice gig bag and was totally plain, I’d think it was good value.

The aNueNue US10 soprano ukulele has fluorocarbon strings fitted, their own Clear Water brand which are smooth, light and nice and clear. The geared tuners are fine - not special particularly, but they work! And the gig bag that comes with it is stylish and well padded. I think if the bags were sold separately, they’d go for £25, so that standard of bag really adds to the overall value of the package. The maple bridge and fingerboard (35mm nut) are smooth and tactile too.

As you might expect from spruce, which sits on the brighter end of the sound spectrum, there’s plenty of clarity and high end power - but despite the non traditional look, the sound carries some traditional soprano ‘bark’ too, a woody, full-sounding attack that ensures the aNueNue US10 ukulele doesn’t sound thin.
